Alicia Florrick (Julianna Margulies) stood by her husband (Chris Noth) on his tumultuous path to the governor’s office, but now she’s entering the world of politics on her own terms by running for state’s attorney. As Election Day approaches, Alicia must balance the demands of her firm and campaign as she supports her partner Car (Matt Czuchry) during shocking developments that could end his career, and life as he knows it. Although it pretends to expose corrupt social maladies that run the gamut from NSA spying, DOJ open and flagrant destruction of exculpatory evidence, systemic electronic election rigging, to Chicago’s Holman square as a “black site,” it does so from a post-modern post-moral perspective. None of the characters has a real moral center – the closest is Kalinda who trusts no-one but is fiercely loyal to friends and willing to sacrifice herself on their behalf – except the staunch filthy-rich right-wing conservatives who emerge as genuine champions of their own beliefs while the liberals seem to be defending a life-style and social identity. Juliana Margulies returns in the role that earner her two Primetime Emmy Awards, and stars with Archie Panjabi, Christine Baranki, Alan Cumming and a roster of stellar guests in Season Six of the gripping series that critics call ‘TV’s best drama.

2. House of Cards Season 1

Having a long holiday at home and don’t know how to get out of boredom? Get this DVD of The House of Cards television drama season 1 and feel the entertain.

The premise is great since Francis Underwood (Kevin Spacey) is promised the Secretary of State position in thanks for helping to get a new president elected. Once elected, the new president conveniently changes his mind and doesn’t even bother to meet with Underwood to tell him. He lets his chief of staff notify Underwood he has been passed over, and asks for his continued support of the president in the Congress as Majority Whip. Underwood promises his support, but lets us, the audience, know differently. The joy of this series is seeing how Underwood continually outwits and outmaneuvers other politicians who seem just as integrity-challenged as him, but less bright. And because Underwood has been skewered by the Prez and his team, you really don’t mind when Underwood acts in a Machiavellian manner to get the better of them. Kevin Spacey is mesmeric as Frank Underwood. The casting is superb. The dialogue is intelligent and inspired. You can’t wait to see what schemes Underwood has concocted each episode and how they are going to play out. If this series is fairly true to life, no wonder our government is in the mess it is in right now. Best movie choice ever, you must not miss this.

1. Madam Secretary Season 1

Love political drama series but don’t know which one is the best? You will never regret your choice watching this Madam Secretary. Grab the first season and enjoy your day.

In the first season of the gripping political thriller Madam Secretary, Dr. Elizabeth McCord (Téa Leoni) navigates the maze of politics to protect America and affect global issues. When the current Secretary of State is killed in a mysterious airplane accident, the White House turns to Elizabeth to take over the job. As a former CIA analyst, she understands the risks of the world. However, she’s far less prepared for the treachery of politics. She’s former CIA & had rather keep her actions quiet, but can be diplomatic when the job requires her to be. The international arenas are treated realistically rather than leaning toward liberal optimism or conservative pessimism. As the season progresses we see how she and her staff grow to be a team. Her husband and kids are quietly terrific, seeming to be real people with their own quirks & needs, sometimes at odds with her. And, amazing to me who’s seen her comedic performances, she is quietly convincing rather than stridently or ridiculously over the top.
